Hi all,
I bought a GTX 980Ti recently, and I love it. I looked in the box and there was an option for a free game (which is powered by UPlay). I chose Rainbow Six Siege... and when I tried to download it, UPlay downloads about 3GB then it comes up instantly with 'UPlay was unable to start your download. Check free hard drive space and try again'.
Now, I know already that many others have this problem - I have restarted my router, re-installed UPlay (and removed every UPlay folder I could find), tried to install the game in the default directory instead, and tried the registry fix (UPlay automatically tries to install in the UPlay directory instead of the chosen one all the time, easy fix in regedit) and tried using ethernet. I have tried and tried to download the game, but it doesn't work. Really? I think it's pretty pathetic how every single feature and wording of UPlay is a total copy of Steam, yet it cannot download a game. The game is 30GB, including the Ultra HD Texture pack addon offered by UPlay. PC Specs listed below:
i7 5820K @ 4.2Ghz
Corsair H100i GTX
16GB (4x4) Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @2666MHz
Asus X99A
C: Drive: Kingston SSDNow V300 (200GB Free Space, I get write speeds of around 350mbps)
D: Drive (where I want to install the game) 1.2TB Free, 7200RPM, write speeds of 100mbps)
GPU: 2x Zotac 980Ti AMP! SLI
PSU: Corsair RM1000
Internet:
WiFi Adaptor on the PC: 802.11ac, 1200mbps capability, 5Ghz, get speeds of 100mbps, which is the plan of my house.
Router: ~3ft away (tried ethernet + close range), 802.11n, 100mbps, 5Ghz + 2.4Ghz (Superhub 2) The WiFi channels I use are very unpopulated... I have tried connecting using 2.4Ghz but no avail.
All other downloads outside of UPlay work great.
That's all I can say right now. All help is widely welcome!
