I followed all the steps described in your suggested Support Article, and this is still not working...I even tried with a direct chmod of the install folder, but still crashes.

I have read on mac world that High Sierra don't work for games. So I have refused to install that myself.

How can I solve this? Are you working on a solution? I downloaded the installer from https://eu.battle.net/account/download/ and simply tried to run it from my download folder.
Same problem here. Would have be nice to have known 2 hours ago before I bought the game for the 23rd time
You could ask for a refund if it's not been that long, but you have to ticket.

PlugY is a mod for Diablo 2 LOD that increases the size of the stash and enables a shared stash (so you can transfer items between characters), and also enables all Ladder only (online only) content in single-player mode such as ladder only runewords, Ubers, and the Pandemonium Event. It is generally considered to be the most essential mod for single player D2. However, it is a Windows only mod. For years Mac users have wanted this mod, but as far as I know, it has never been available... until now!
I am happy to say that I have successfully created a standalone Mac OS X application which gives Diablo 2 1.13 LOD running in fullscreen with PlugY version 10. This was achieved by modifying a Wine Bottle. The key point however, is that it is a completely standalone mac application with no Wine installation required.
Also, Mac OS X 10.7 is not compatible with Blizzard's version of Diablo 2, whereas this Wine Bottle version is!
