It is a much needed book at the moment. I have not yet to complete my work in it but it is pretty good.

The textbook is very good. If you go thoroughly through this workbook, how can you help but gain a firm grasp on all the topics covered in Level 1 Part 1. You'll be able to converse with other Mandarin speakers on topics normally addressed in first-time meetings, second-time meetings, and third-time meetings. I have used this book in classes. Wonderful book for seeing, visualizing, tracing, and writing Hanzi. I photocopied the pages and wrote on them. That way I could go back and . . . practice more of course! One thing learning any language requires is practice, practice, practice, and that goes double - make that quadruple for semanto-phonetic writing systems such as Hanzi.
Date I finished: didn't. Am engaged in on-going reviews of these texts.

Decent range of exercises. I would like more pinyin transcription of the various texts tho because it is frustrating that you have to search through the textbook in order to find the one character that you forgot the meaning and pronunciation of. If not beneath the actual characters, have it at least somewhere in the back of the book.
Fantastic textbook! Best I've come across so far for learning Mandarin and Chinese characters.
